Sophie Knight

Physiotherapist

DPT, BKin

Sophie Knight is a highly skilled physiotherapist who provides expert care for patients of all ages, with a strong focus on paediatric physiotherapy and sports physiotherapy. Sophie’s holistic approach ensures that she tailors treatment to the unique needs of every individual, whether they are children, athletes, or adults recovering from injuries. With a Doctor of Physiotherapy (DPT) from the University of Melbourne and a Bachelor of Kinesiology (BKin) from the University of British Columbia, Canada, Sophie brings a diverse skill set to her practice, helping patients recover and improve their physical well-being.

Sophie’s expertise in paediatric physiotherapy includes assessment and management of developmental conditions, as well as supporting children in their physical development and rehabilitation. Her training in Developmental Physiotherapy for Children and Starting Blocks: Paediatric Physiotherapy allows her to work closely with children to ensure they achieve strong, healthy, and functional bodies.

While Sophie has a special interest in treating children and young athletes, her experience also extends to providing care for adults of all ages. Whether it’s treating general musculoskeletal conditions, post-surgical rehabilitation, or improving mobility and function, Sophie is dedicated to helping all patients live pain-free and reach their physical potential.

Sophie works as the physiotherapist for several sports teams, including:

  • Port Melbourne Soccer Club (2024)
  • Williamstown Football Club (2024)
  • Brunswick City Soccer Club (2024)

In these roles, she provides injury management, rehabilitation, and prevention strategies for athletes, ensuring they recover fully and perform at their best.

In addition to her paediatric and sports physiotherapy expertise, Sophie is skilled in manual therapy techniques, such as joint mobilisations, soft tissue release, and therapeutic exercises. These methods are effective in reducing pain, improving mobility, and restoring function for all patients, not just children and athletes.

Sophie’s qualifications are further complemented by completing the Mulligan Course (Mobilisation With Movements, 2024) and earning certifications from Sports Medicine Australia. She has also attended workshops on ACL rehabilitation, paediatric gait analysis, and concussion management, equipping her with the skills to provide comprehensive care for a wide range of conditions.

Her hands-on experience includes working as an Allied Health Assistant at Good Physio for Children, where she gained valuable experience with paediatric clients. This role also helped her develop her ability to engage children creatively during treatment, ensuring therapy is not only effective but enjoyable.

With a patient-centered approach, Sophie is committed to providing care that is tailored to the specific needs and goals of each individual, whether they are a child, athlete, or adult. She is passionate about making rehabilitation an enjoyable and effective process, helping her patients reach their full potential and live a healthy, active life.
